The Playhouse has openings for volunteers to carry out its ambitious schedule of plays.
Become a Pewter Plough Volunteer and get involved in the fun and excitement of live theatre, meet new people and participate in making shows happen at the PPP!
As a volunteer, nonprofit community theatre group, the success of our productions is largely dependent on the many theatre-loving people who volunteer their time and efforts as part of an active and vital group: the Pewter Plough Playhouse Volunteers.
We have many opportunities for additional people to get involved and join in the fun, including the following:
Box Office Associates — Our Box Office volunteers open the box office on weekend afternoons, converse with the public about the PPP and our shows, sell tickets, handle reservations, answer our ticket line and other related activities. Box Office volunteers are very important to us: they represent the Playhouse to potential playgoers.
Set building — Our stage crew is involved in set building, set dressing, prop handling, set painting and all aspects of preparing a stage set.
Light and Sound Tech — Handles light and sound design, set up and/or operation during shows.
Stage Managers — Coordinates all backstage activities during rehearsals and shows, including keeping track of the script during the action of a play, setting stage props, alerting actors to entrances/exits, helping with costumes, assisting with special effects (such as telephone rings and door bells) and other actions to facilitate the smooth running of a play.
Actors and Actresses — We are always seeking new performers for both our regular season plays and our readers' theatre. No experience necessary.
Directors and Assistant Directors — New Directors and Assistant Directors are keenly sought, both for our regular season plays and our readers' theatre.
Promotion Associates — Involved in actively spreading an awarenessof our shows, including preparing and distributing circulars and flyers, preparing direct mailings and other promotional activities.
Holding Book — Assists Director during rehearsals in following the script, giving actors their lines when asked, and other related tasks.
Hosting — Serving in a welcoming and ushering capacity in the front of the house at show times and during intermission. Assist at our Gala Champagne Openings.
Fund raising — Assist in raising contributions, gifts and/or grants for the Playhouse.
Get involved in live theatre at its most magical and become a part of our theatrical family at the Pewter Plough Playhouse.
The Benefits: It's fun and rewarding! As a regular PPP volunteer, you receive two complimentary tickets to each current production you are involved with, you become familiar with the unique backstage world of the theatre, you meet new people and develop friendships with people who love live theatre, participate in PPP special events, attend dress rehearsals and, most importantly, you become a part of the family which makes live theatre happen at the Pewter Plough Playhouse.
No experience is necessary, although volunteering is an excellent way to make valued use of your interests and abilities! Any amount of time is OK, from a little to a lot is appreciated!
